Six-car crash injures four people in New York

A six-vehicle car accident in New Rochester, NY injured four people.

Three vans were involved in an accident that blocked the left lane of the highway. As the drivers began to get out of the car a fourth vehicle struck one of the vans. A fifth vehicle then became involved in the accident and was wedged between two of the vans.

Finally a sixth vehicle ran into the group pf vehicles. The most serious injury was one man that was pinned between two vans and suffered a broken pelvis. The accident left traffic closed for two hours.

7-car accident on Jackie Robinson Parkway

A 7-car accident was reported on Tuesday morning on the Jackie Robinson Parkway in Queens, New York.  The accident, which officials are currently investigating, occurred in the eastbound lanes of the parkway near Forest Park Drive.

The 7-vehicle pile-up resulted from rush hour traffic built up on the busy road.  The NYPD, FDNY, and emergency crews all arrived at the scene of the crash.  However, reporters were unsure whether or not anyone was injured in the accident.

Police find man hiding in cornfield after hit-and-run

This past Saturday night, New York state troopers learned of a hit-and-run accident involving a Ford Focus and minor injuries in Darien at State Route 77 and Sumner Road.  The details of the accident were not reported.

Upon hearing of the accident, Genesee County deputies sent details on the Focus to nearby police departments.  Police found the address the car was registered to in Erie County, and soon after found the car abandoned on Two Road in Marilla.  A person living near where the car was abandoned told Trooper Timothy Roof that they thought someone was hiding in their backyard.  Roof then found 23-year old Jonathan P. Murphy of East Aurora hiding in a cornfield behind the person’s home.

Murphy faces charges of driving while intoxicated, fleeing the scene of an accident involving personal injury, and and other various traffic charges.

Jersey City Hit-And-Run Kills Queens Man

A man from Harrington Park has been charged with death by automobile and drunk driving after a Jersey City car accident that claimed the life of a Queens man.

According to officials with the Jersey City Police Department, 23 year-old John Dineen was driving a 2009 black Toyota at a high rate of speed on State Highway 139 when he struck and killed 33 year-old Jermaine Forrester, of Queens. Forrester was crossing the highway at Bevan Street shortly before 1:00 a.m. when he was hit.

Dineen fled the scene of the accident. Authorities spotted his vehicle in Bergen County later that night.

Man races friend's car, crashes

A St. Albans man, 22 years-old, was arrested after allegedly racing his friend’s car down 121st Avenue.

The man allegedly took his friend’s 1997 gray BMW without asking permission from its owner, and used the car to race another vehicle on 121st Avenue. According to the Queens district attorney, the man lost control of the car while speeding down the center median. The car hit the other racer, causing both vehicles to come to a halt and the airbags in each vehicle to deploy. When the police arrived, the man supposedly told police that he did not have a driver’s license.

The other driver suffered injuries that included blood in his brain, four broken ribs, and two broken vertebrae. He is currently at North Shore Manhasset Hospital.

The St. Albans man was charged with assault, reckless endangerment, racing, aggravated and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and speeding. He is currently held on $50,000 bail.

Bronx man accused in hit-and-run

A 21-year-old Bronx man alleged to have struck and injured nine pedestrians last Friday in a hit-and-run has pled not guilty to charges of driving under the influence.

The accident occurred as 77,000 fans left the new Meadowlands Stadium in New Jersey following a tune-up soccer game between Ecuador and Mexico.

Nine pedestrians, including a 20-month-old child, crossed Route 120 instead of using a nearby footbridge. They were struck by the 21-year-old driver, who then fled the scene. Nobody was seriously injured.

Police were able to catch up to the driver in Wallington, where they charged him with leaving the scene of a dangerous accident, driving under the influence, and assault by auto.

17-Year-Old Queens Girl Killed in Car Crash

A teenager from Queens was killed in an early morning car crash Monday.

According to officials with the New York Police Department’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, the fatal accident occurred shortly after 3:00 a.m. Monday, in Nether Broughton, north of Melton. The 17 year-old girl was a passenger in a blue Isuzu Trooper SWB that collided with another vehicle on Hickling Lane.

“The car was traveling along the lane, between Church End and Main Street,” said Detective Constable Peter Davies. “I would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the blue Isuzu Trooper beforehand.”

Police say a 17 year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and released on police bail pending further enquiries.

All three occupants of the Isuzu were injured in the crash and transported to Queens Medical Centre for treatment. The 17 year-old girl was pronounced dead at the hospital yesterday evening.

A second passenger has since been discharged, and the third victim is listed in stable condition.

2 Killed in New York Thruway Crash

Two men from New Jersey were killed in a car crash on the New York Thruway Wednesday.

According to officials with the New York Highway Patrol, the accident occured when an Avis rental truck veered across the median on the Thruway and struck a flatbed truck. Authorities say 29 year-old Orange-resident Garry Delcy was pronounced dead at Albany Medical Center shortly after the wreck. A passenger in the Avis truck, 41 year-old Dariusz Pazdur, of Sayreville, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident occurred shortly before 12:00 p.m. Wednesday about twenty-five miles south of Albany in the Greene County town of Athens.

The driver of the flatbed truck, 55 year-old Kingston-resident Florencio Coraizaca was transported to Albany Medical Center wit facial injuries after the accident. Coraizaca’s condition is not know.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
